Whether you're taking part in winter activities, enjoying cozy local spots, or attending special community events, our area is full of opportunities to kick off the year with warmth and joy. Let’s take a look at what’s happening in and around the Tri-Valley this January!
NOV 20–JAN 25: Glow at the Exploratorium in San Francisco
Glow is the Exploratorium’s immersive winter celebration of light, running November 20–January 25. Experience dazzling installations, interactive exhibits, and luminous artworks—from glowing mirrors and shifting light sculptures to sound-and-light environments and shadow play. Free with museum admission, and always free for members and donors.
NOV 24–JAN 19: Walnut Creek on Ice
Walnut Creek on Ice celebrates 20 years of winter fun at Civic Park! Enjoy outdoor skating, Frosty’s Summit Ice Slide, festive music, and cozy firepits in the heart of Downtown Walnut Creek, a holiday tradition for families and friends to make lasting memories.
JAN 4: 100 Years of Hank Williams
Head to the Bankhead Theater in Livermore for Jason Petty’s Obie Award-winning performance of 100 Years of Hank Williams. Featuring iconic hits like “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “Lovesick Blues,” and “Hey Good Lookin’,” this high-energy tribute had Bankhead audiences on their feet when he was here in 2022.
JAN 6: Barrels and Bingo Game Night
Grab your friends and join us at McGrail for Bingo like you’ve never played before! It’s loud, lively, and a little wild! We’ll have music pumping, plenty of laughs, and of course award-winning wines flowing. Whether you’re a bingo pro or just in it for the fun, there’s something for everyone! Guests must be 21 years of age or older.
JAN 7: Livermore Public Library – Literacy Volunteer Training
Can you see yourself teaming up with an adult to work on their basic reading, writing or conversation skills? Are you interested in meeting new people and making a positive contribution to our community? If so, become a literacy volunteer and help adults become more confident and better able to navigate everyday situations. Volunteers have the option of meeting one-to-one or with small groups.
JAN 10: Top of the World - A Carpenters Tribute
Celebrate the music of The Carpenters with Top of the World at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore. Fronted by the astonishing Debbie Taylor, whose vocals capture the warm, contralto tones of Karen Carpenter, this seven-piece band brings every song to life with incredible musicianship. Sing along to beloved hits like Close to You, We’ve Only Just Begun, and Yesterday Once More.
JAN 11: Uncorked & Unplugged
Join us for a relaxing winter afternoon in the Barrel Room at McGrail Vineyards. Enjoy the soothing sounds of live acoustic music, savor delicious fare from a local food truck available for purchase, and sip on your favorite McGrail wines, offered by the glass or bottle for purchase.
JAN 11: Sunday Football at Altamont Beer Works
Taproom will be open every Sunday starting at 10AM! They have delicious breakfast options in the lot courtesy of The Griddler and any beer can be upgraded to a michelada with mix from New Tradition Kitchen.
JAN 16–19: Napa Truffle Festival
Celebrate the Annual Napa Truffle Festival, a four-day celebration of all things truffle, January 16–19. Savor tastings, cooking demos, truffle cuisine, film night, truffle dog demonstrations, and a lively Truffle Marketplace.
JAN 21: TRI-VALLEY R.I.S.E.
Through The Grapevine Podcast is excited to partner with Livermore Valley Arts at the Bankhead Theater to host Tri-Valley R.I.S.E. An event to bring together the wide variety of entrepreneurs that make up our regional hospitality industry. The evening will begin with a small business exposition held in the lobby showcasing many of your favorite local small business owners. Followed by a series of live interviews and keynote speakers. Tickets are cheaper in groups of 4 so be sure to grab tickets for your industry friends as well.
JAN 22: Yountville Art & Mustard Celebration
Yountville Art & Mustard Celebration takes place Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Yountville Community Center. Enjoy mustard-themed art, the Photo-Finale exhibition opening, local wines, mustard-inspired bites, and shopping from local vendors.
JAN 22: Livermore Public Library – Opportunities Expo
Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and take advantage of the chance to meet and network with local employers. This event offers a unique platform to establish professional relationships and explore potential employment options in various fields. Representatives from the Tri-Valley Career Center will be on hand providing resume assistance. Additionally, the first 50 attendees are offered a complimentary, professional headshot, courtesy of Ron Essex Photography.
JAN 24: San Francisco Giants 2026 FanFest Tour (San Ramon)
Fans can meet players, coaches, broadcasters, and Lou Seal, get autographs, participate in Q&As, tour exclusive ballpark areas, take photos with World Series trophies, and watch the day’s Spring Training game on the scoreboard. Free and fun for the whole family!
JAN 25: Walking Tours at Hagemann Ranch
Visit historic Hagemann Ranch in Livermore at your own pace on January 25 from 1-5 pm. Wander this historic, 5-acre, site, see the original buildings, the gardens, and visit the animals.
JAN 29: AJ Lee and Blue Summit
AJ Lee & Blue Summit are a Santa Cruz–based roots band known for their high-energy performances and virtuosic musicianship. Formed as teenagers at local bluegrass festivals, the group blends bluegrass, Americana, country soul, and California folk into a sound that’s both festival-ready and deeply personal. Their latest album, City of Glass, showcases a mature, confident evolution and marks their first label release. Catch them live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge in Livermore’s vibrant wine and brewery district.
JAN 31: Sonoma Chowder Day
Chowder Day 2026 returns to the beautiful Sonoma Coast on January 31. For $30, enjoy a self-guided, driving chowder tour through Bodega Bay and surrounding towns, sampling at participating restaurants from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
JAN 31: Grand Opening for Japanese Supermarket ‘Tokyo Central’
Tokyo Central is opening its first East Bay location at Bay Street Emeryville (5603 Bay Street) on January 31, 2026, with a grand-opening weekend through February 1. It’s the second Bay Area store, joining the Cupertino location.
